Tom OssaCommunity Advisor
Tom Ossa is local business owner and entrepreneur that is passionate about building the community around him into a place that he can be proud to live and work within. Tom grew up in North Rockland. His grandfather had a bike store on route 9w for nearly 30 years, where Tom worked and developed customer service and technical skills. After college he took on several careers, notably as an Instructor at Rockland BOCES, where he still teach a few night classes per year since 2001. In 2007 Tom started Rockland Web Design. His team builds mobile websites, apps and marketing programs that give their clients a viable company presence, then trains those that ask for more guidance to be more effective in accomplishing their daily work, as well as their long term goals. As the current President of the North Rockland Chamber of Commerce, he works with a great team of local businesspersons and not-for-profit representatives to create events, workshops and opportunities for organizations to expand their reach and capabilities. Tom is also involved with several other networking groups and organizations in various capacities, such as the Workforce Development Board, the Highlands Chamber of Commerce, ProMetroNet, and The Alliance for Senior Services. His best strengths are marketing, advertising, and general promotion; his biggest weakness is his chronic inability to tell a joke properly. In his spare time Tom is an avid drummer. He enjoys playing with the band The Lift, who have played at several events and fundraisers in the past several years, notably the Stony Point Seals Polar Plunge, the Shops at Nanuet Concert Series, and even open mic jams in Eccher Park in Stony Point. He also enjoys chess, video games, and movies in his spare time, as well as working out as much as time permits in the gym or on his road bike when he heads up to Bear Mountain.
