Suffern Poetry Will Host Open Mic Night

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Suffern Poetry will host a Poetry Open Mic on Saturday, June 18 in Suffern, which will include a 30-minute set by Jeanann Verlee.

Verlee is the author of two books, "Said the Manic to the Muse" and the award-winning "Racing Hummingbirds." She has been awarded the Third Coast Poetry Prize and the Sandy Crimmins National Prize for Poetry. Her work has appeared in failbetter, "The Adroit Journal," "Rattle," and "BuzzFeed," among others. 

Doors and sign-ups open at 6:30 p.m. The event proper runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will be held in the community room at Suffern Village Hall, 61 Washington Ave., on the third floor. 

Anyone can sign up to share up to five minutes of original poetry. A $5 donation is recommended to pay for featured poets, advertising, and other programs and workshops.
