Musician Brings Storytelling Performance To Garnerville

GARNERVILLE, N.Y. -- A classically trained musician who plays multiple instruments is bringing her audiovisual storytelling work to a Garnerville stage.

Bora Yoon , is a Korean-American composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist who spins her yarns through music, movement and sound, will perform Saturday, Nov. 19 at Garner Arts Center.

She will conjures up a "soundscape" with digital devices, voice and found objects, and instruments from various cultures and historical centuries at gallery, located in the 19th century pre-Civil war Garnerville Arts & Industrial Center.

Yoon will employ the following in her concert:

Voice, violin, Tibetan singing bowls, cellphones, radios, water, bike bells, synthesizers, walkie-talkies, wind tubes, metronomes, Bible pages, spoons, found objects, viola through an octave-dropping pedal to sound like a bass, piano, tin cans, field recordings, electronics, and particular acoustic and architectural features of the venue itself  (stage as instrument).

Tickets are ($12/adults; $10/seniors, students, military) are available in advance at www.garnerartscenter.org, or call (845) 947-7108; or at the Center office, 55 W. Railroad Ave., Garnerville.

Tickets will also be sold at the door.

The show is at 7:30 p.m.
