These classes were created because of high demand from former patients who felt that guided meditation at Helen Hayes Hospital had made a huge impact on their lives during their inpatient stay at the hospital.
Meditation has been proven to have significant benefits for patients in a rehabilitation setting. Sarah White, licensed mental health counselor at HHH and leader of the Meditation Program said “The feedback from our patients has been incredible. Many patients have reported that they feel that meditating at the end of their day helps manage their pain. Others report that they are sleeping better, are able to manage their anxiety throughout the day and feel more connected to their physical body in regards to noticing where they compensate for pain.”
The Meditation Program at HHH is ideal for everyone--from beginners to established meditation students, who seek peacefulness and well-being while building mindfulness and awareness. Participation is open to all community members, whether or not they have been a rehabilitation patient.
The cost of the program is $40 per month. Pre-registration is required by calling Sarah White at 845-786-4158. For more information, click here.
