The production, directed by Carin Zakes and produced by Nova Hall, at the Darien Arts Center (DAC) in Darien, Conn, is being showcased April 21, 22, 28, 29 and May 5 and 6 at 8 p.m., and April 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. in the theater's Weatherstone Studio.

The story examines how parents-to-be experience the emotional stresses and triumphs, as well as the desperate lows and comic highs that accompany the anticipation and arrival of a baby.

The play follows three couples as they work their way towards parenthood under three very different circumstances.

Spielman plays the middle-aged Arlene Mcnalley opposite stage veteran Peter Green of Port Chester, who plays her husband Alan.

She was last seen on the Darien Arts Center stage in "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris." Other recent productions include "Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Copper Beeches "as director, "Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Red-Headed League" as Lavinia Ross and "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" as Hippolyta/Titania.

When she's not performing, Dr. Spielman is a consulting research psychologist and statistician specializing in traumatic brain injury and PTSD. She serves on the board of the Elmwood Playhouse and the Lenrow Foundation.

"Baby" is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for students at www.darienarts.org. For more information, call 203-655-8683.
