GREENWOOD LAKE, N.Y. -- Two men from the Hudson Valley survived a small-plane crash in a Long Island neighborhood after engine failure in the Piper PA-28-140 they were flying on Sunday, according to Westchester News 12.
Scott Clifford, 34, of Wallkill, and his passenger, Michael Rome, 66, of Greenwood Lake, suffered serious injuries, including broken legs and a head injury, during the crash that caused the plane to catch on fire. Police said good Samaritans saved their lives, said Westchester News 12.
Neighbors and Bayport firefighters were able to pull the men from the plane and put out the fire with garden hoses, added Westchester News 12.
