Our Assembly budget proposal addresses important education issues that I have long fought for.
By proposing an increase of $2.1 billion dollars in education aid, we will help ensure smaller class sizes and an overall top-quality education to give our kids the preparation they need to succeed.
Furthermore, this increased school aid will mean savings for local property taxpayers who do not have to shoulder as much of the burden as they would have otherwise.
We must also remember that a strong early education provides a solid foundation for continued learning and growth. That’s why every student should have access to full-day kindergarten.
The Assembly’s budget has proposed to do just that by including the Zebrowski-Skoufis bill that provides the necessary resources for a complete transition to full-day kindergarten; only nine school districts in New York State still have half-day programs, including Washingtonville and North Rockland.
