A 25-year-old man took a cab to the Bear Mountain Bridge on Thursday, asked the driver to stop mid-span, opened the cab door and ran and jumped 150-feet to his death, according to the New York State Police.
Dalton Tompkins, whose address is unknown, jumped from the bridge around 8:30 a.m., said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Multiple emergency responders from Westchester, Rockland and Orange counties helped search for Tompkins, Nevel said.
His body was recovered by the Stony Point and Fort Montgomery Marine Units, he added.
Once recovered, Tompkins was rushed to Nyack Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Nevel said.
