Missing Yonkers Teen Found Safe

A 15-year-old boy who went missing Saturday was located in New York City early Sunday morning, Yonkers Police said. 

His safe and has been reunited with his family.

The Yonkers Police Department expressed appreciations to "members of the media and local residents who shared our missing person poster."

"We would also like to thank our local law enforcement partners including the Westchester County Department of Public Safety (K9 Unit and Aviation Unit) and the New York City Police Department," the Yonkers PD said.

Investigation will continue as to how Yonkers resident Mel Harris made his way to NYC from the City of Yonkers, police said.

An alert was issued Saturday seeking the public's help in finding a 15-year-old boy who went missing on the bicycle trail off Saw Mill River Road (Route 9A) in northwest Yonkers near the Hastings border earlier in the day.

Mel Harris, who is autistic, is described as having brown eyes and black hair. He is 5-foot-1, 115 pounds and wearing a white T-shirt, gray shorts, blue glasses and blue crocs.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should immediately call Yonkers Police at (914) 377-7900.
