Stony Point Teen Attempts To Rob Ramapo Cabbie With Knife In New City

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  A Stony Point teen was charged with attempted robbery after trying to rob a taxi driver with a knife in the parking lot of a church early Sunday, according to Ramapo Det. Sgt. Brian Corbett.

Erick Michael Gustaven, 18, was arrested after Ramapo police responded to a report of the attempted armed robbery at 4 a.m. in the parking lot of the Grace Point Church at 384 New Hempstead Road, New City, Corbett said. 

When officers arrived,  they met with a taxi driver who told them Gustaven had just attempted to rob him with a knife before running from the area on foot, Corbett said.

Officers were able to track down Gustavsen who was charged with attempted robbery and possession of a forged instrument, police said.

Gustavsen is being held at the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
