GARNERVILLE, N.Y. -- Jan Willy Noothout, a resident of Garnerville, died Saturday, Feb.6. He was 80.
Noothout served in the Dutch Army in the Netherlands. He immigrated to the United States serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Cold War with tours of duty in Fort Dix, N.J. and Germany. After his military service, he became a successful business owner of Gralex, where as a mechanical engineer, he built electronic parts and components for private and government agencies, including NASA.
He is survived by his brothers, Theo Noothout of Hoorn; Edu Noothout of Dordrecht ; and sisters, Anna deBok of Garnerville; along with Johanna deBruin of Delft and Tieneke Wensel of Wanningen. In addition he is survived by Sheila Allen of Virginia; Arlette Phillips of Garnerville; Giselle de Bok of Florida; and Annette D'Amelio of Garnerville, N.Y.; with grand nieces and nephews Chase, Chris, Declan, Veronica, Tom, William, Anthony, Nicholas, Olivia, Randell, with many more nephews and nieces.
