GARNERVILLE, N.Y. -- Madeline Genzano, of Garnerville, died Aug. 19. She was 85.
She was born in 1931, and raised by her Italian immigrant parents, Gemma and Frank Selvaggi along with her two brothers, Rocco and Dominick.
She attended college for art and worked in Manhattan.
She married Vincent Genzano in 1956.
Genzano reinvented her life at 41 when her husband passed away. She found a job in the North Rockland School District and went on to work for a local newspaper as a typesetter and as a cashier for OTB.
She was smart, sincere, honest, funny, fun, trusting, vibrant, generous, patient, resourceful, had perseverance and incredibly beautiful.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Genzano and Jessica Carey, two grandsons, Kyle and Luke Carey; son-in-law; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Mondayat Immaculate Conception Church, 26 John St., Stony Point with Interment to follow in St Peters Cemetery in Haverstraw.
