Michael M. Palkovic Jr., 81, Of West Haverstraw

WEST HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Michael M. Palkovic Jr., 81, of West Haverstraw, died Tuesday, Nov. 1.

He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Nyack, the son of Theresa and Michael Palkovic Sr. of Piermont.

After graduation from Tappan Zee High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He worked as a steel rule diemaker for Federal Paper Board in Piermont for 32 years until they closed. He then worked for Innovative Plastics in Orangeburg. He also worked for Lederle Labs in Pearl River for seven years as a graphic arts manager. He served as president of the West Haverstraw Senior Citizens’ Club for six years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren, reading history books and building model railroads.

He is survived by his wife; Joan; children, Michelle Goodman, Mary Ellen Murphy, Terry Sullivan and her husband James, Michael Palkovic and Kevin Palkovic and his wife Melissa; grandchildren, Emily and Zachary Goodman, Devin and Lauren Murphy, Alec, Kyra, Jillian and James Sullivan and Michael, Joseph and Elizabeth Palkovic; and brother, Thomas Palkovic and his wife Irene.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Jamie Ann.

The family will receive friends on from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 133 Broadway, Haverstraw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw with interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
