WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Drug and gun raids by the FBI and local law agencies in Sullivan County Tuesday netted 21 arrests, Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara announced Tuesday.

Law enforcement officials swooped down on locations in and around Liberty, targeting a gang that is accused of selling heroin and crack in the county, authorities said.

“Drugs destroy lives, rip apart families, and fuel a cycle of addiction and violence in our communities. With the federal drug and gun charges brought today, we seek to incapacitate two different drug rings that have for years been selling heroin and crack cocaine, and protecting their business with guns, in Sullivan County and specifically, in the Village of Liberty," Bharara said in a statement.

Those locations included the parking lot of a drug recovery center, authorities said.

According to a report by T he Times Herald-Record , the indictment identified Kyle James and Jamar Shaw as the reputed leaders of the drug ring.

The indictment also charges James and Loren Perry, another member, with using and carrying guns during the alleged drug operations, the Times Herald-Record story said.
