Jacqueline Farrow, of Jamaica, N.Y., was stopped by police on Saturday around 4:15 a.m., for driving without headlights on Route 9D, Solomon said.

During the stop, officers discovered the car was unregistered and that the license plate had been switched, police said.

When they attempted to impound the car, Farrow got into a struggle with officers for her purse. Once she was in custody, police found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun inside the purse, police said.

A search of the vehicle also turned up marijuana and a large quantity of drug paraphernalia inside the car.

Farrow was charged with three counts of felony criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, criminally using drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and several traffic infractions.

She was arraigned in Beacon City Court and is currently being held at the Dutchess County Jail.
