ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - A 22-year-old Rockland County resident was busted driving with a blood-alcohol content more than three times the legal limit after running a red light in Pearl River over the weekend.

Patrol officers from the Orangetown Police Department spotted Congers resident William Foster run through a steady red light while driving erratically on South Main Street shortly before 4:20 a.m. on Saturday morning, prompting a traffic stop.

During the subsequent stop, police said that Foster had “glassy eyes, impaired speech, impaired motor coordination and the odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.” He proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

After being taken into custody, police said that Foster consented to a breathalyzer test and it was determined that his blood alcohol content was more than .24 percent. He was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Following arraignment, Foster was released and is due back in Orangetown Justice Court on Dec. 13 to answer the charge.
