Police were investigating an auto accident near 105 East Main St in Stony Point with a report that the driver was leaving the scene of the crash early Saturday evening.

Police located the driver who fled from the car, Jose Molina-Rivas, in the rear seat of a different unregistered car parked at that address, according to police, who noted he was apparently attempting to hide from police.

Molina-Rivera refused police orders to exit the vehicle he was hiding in and resisted officers who were attempting to take him into custody, police said.

He has been charged with DWI, DWI refusal and resisting arrests.

After he failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a breathalyzer test, he was arrested and processed at the station and released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket for Stony Point Court on Sept. 12.
