Police in Orangetown have arrested Nyack resident Paul Clement for allegedly unlawfully breaking into a local residence at 4 a.m. Monday, June 12 and threatening the homeowner with a weapon.
Following an investigation, it was determined that Clement allegedly entered the residence, causing a commotion, and when the homeowner went to investigate the noises he heard, Clement confronted him with a knife, threatening him, police said. Following a brief struggle, the homeowner was cut on one of his fingers and Clement allegedly fled the scene.
According to police, officers were unable to locate Clement at the time of the incident, but he was tracked down last week and was arrested on multiple charges.
Clement has been charged with felony counts of first-degree burglary, second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was also charged with criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor. He remains remanded in the Rockland County Jail. Clement is due back in court later this year.
