Police ID Suspect On The Run After Stony Point Attempted Robbery, Stabbing

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Following an all-night search for a suspect wanted for stabbing another man around 6:18 p.m. Thursday, Stony Point police have identified the man on the run.

Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed and robbed another man in the area of Wayne Avenue and Buckberg Road.

According to Lt. Keith Williams, the victim was stabbed at least once in the arm during an attempted robbery gone wrong on Buckberg Road by Ereidis Pena, 24, of Stony Point.

The two men involved in the event knew each other, he added.

The victim was transported to Nyack Hospital and underwent surgery for the wounds, Williams said.

Pena escaped from the area and police, along with the aid of helicopters and search dogs spent all night searching for him, he added.

He is described as a heavyset Hispanic man in his 20s who was wearing all dark clothing with long braided hair, police said.

During the search, the Stony Point Police were assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Patrol, B.C.I., Aviation Unit, Communications Division, the Haverstraw Town Police and K9 Unit, the NYS Police, NYS Park Police, the Stony Point Volunteer Ambulance Corp. and Rockland Paramedic Services.
