A Ramapo Police Department officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Wednesday afternoon, and while speaking with the officer, he attempted to claim that he was someone else, using their identity.

However, police said that the person the Spring Valley resident - whose name was not disclosed - pretended to be had multiple warrants out for his arrest.

After being arrested on the open warrants, the 20-year-old came clean about his real identity, which led to a charge of false personation. Following his arraignment, he was released on his own recognizance and issued a ticket to appear in Montebello Village Court later this year to answer the charge.
