Patrol officers with the Ramapo Police Department stopped a 49-year-old driver from Pomona - whose name was not immediately available - on Thursday afternoon after he made several vehicle and traffic offenses on Route 45.
During the subsequent stop, it was determined that the driver had a revoked drivers license due to a prior DWI arrest, and his vehicle was not equipped with a court-mandated Interlock Device, which must be on any vehicle he is operating following that conviction.
Police said that further investigation into the driver and vehicle led to officers finding Oxycodone pills and heroin.
The driver was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving with a revoked license and driving without an Interlock Device. He was released on bail and is due back in the Town of Ramapo Court next month to answer the charges.
