HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- A third suspect has been arrested in connection with an Oct. 19 shooting in Haverstraw, according to police.

Luis M Estrella, 28, was charged with attempted murder, second-degree conspiracy, first-degree hindering prosecution, and second-degree perjury, all felonies.

Estrella was arrested late Friday, Oct. 28,  at his residence without incident, according to police.

The incident, according to Haverstraw Police Lt. Martin Lund, took place at the intersection of Allison Avenue and Broad Street where there was an argument between two men and another group. Subsequently, one of the males pulled out a handgun and fired at another male standing in the group. No one was struck by any bullets.

When officers arrived at the scene they observed several shell casings in the street, Lund said.

He is the third suspect arrested in connection with this incident, said police.

James Sanders, 29, of West Haverstraw, and Garlain Francois, 22, of Spring Valley were both apprehended and charged with attempted murder, a felony, following the shooting, Lund said.

Estrella was arraigned in West Haverstraw Court and sent to the Rockland County Jail on $50,000 bail.
