TUXEDO, N.Y. -- Two men traveling on I-87 found themselves in jail on drug charges after being stopped by New York State Troopers for a routine traffic violation, according to the New York State Police.
Joseph N. Lauro, 25, of Staten Island, and his passenger, Aleksandr Sinyuts, 25, of Brooklyn, were arrested on Saturday, Nov. 26, after troopers found Lauro's stash of hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana, state police said.
Both men were charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, state police said.
They were arraigned before the Town of Tuxedo Court and are being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $3,000 bond.
