WEST HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- West Haverstraw firefighters had to battle the summer weather, as well as flames, at a house fire that left at least two families homeless, according to a report by lohud.com.
Emergency crews told lohud.com the fire started in a shed at 1 Farley Drive and spread to several attached dwellings.
Temperatures hovered around 93 degrees, but felt more like 97 in Rockland Monday afternoon, according to Accuweather.com.
A fire in Monsey kept other departments from sending in help in the form of equipment and manpower and the intense heat affected firefighters, sending one to the hospital to have his blood pressure checked, fire officials told lohud.com.
