John Rose, 52, of West Haverstraw was arrested after coming into the Stony Point Police Department with the woman who has an order of protection against him to lodge a complaint on an unrelated incident, said Lt. Daniel Hylas.

According to Hylas, when Rose and the woman came to the department around 9:30 p.m., the officer on duty recognized him and knew there was an existing order of protection against him.

Rose was arrested and charged with violation of a protective order. He is currently being held at the Stony Point Police Station pending arraignment.

Rose was arrested in April after he entered the apartment of the 43-year-old woman on Wood Avenue and threatened her with a hammer. He then began choking her and hit her in the face and head with an unknown object, as well as with his fists, said Hylas.

During the attack Rose, who has known the victim for a long time, also smashed the woman's computer with a hammer and attacked a 35-year-old man who was at the apartment, throwing a rock at him and then hitting him, causing a hip injury, Hylas said.
