Snedens Landing's Oldest House Hits Market For $3.15M

For those looking for just the "right" place to live, they need look no further than the very tony hamlet of Snedens Landing where many a movie star can be seen walking the quaint streets.

Now, one of the oldest homes in the country and in Snedens Landing, "The Big House", is for sale for $3.1 million.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Homes,  and once owned by the first mayor of New York City, William Merritt, the completely restored circa 1738 English Manor house features four bedrooms and bathrooms.

The home also offers a lot of history including being the spot where George Washington met General Lafayette during the Revolutionary War.

Other period details of the home include massive ceiling beams, white pine paneling, period cabinetry, and wide board floors.
