North Rockland Group Working To Extend Kindergarten Day

GARNERVILLE, N.Y. -- After meetings between the North Rockland Full Day Kindergarten Advocates and the Board of Education and state legislators, various Assembly Members showed their support and presented a bill for the cause at a recent press conference.

Assembly Members Kenneth Zebrowski, James Skoufis, Ellen Jaffee, Senator David Carlucci and a representative from Senator William Larkin, Jr. announced their support for a Full Day Kindergarten and a bill to help fund Full Day K for North Rockland and eight other districts in the state.

North Rockland is one of nine districts in the state of New York without a full day kindergarten program. 

The North Rockland Full Kindergarten Day Advocates is a grassroots group consisting of more than 1,300 members of the community dedicated to bringing a full day kindergarten program to the area. 

Full Day Kindergarten will be on the agenda for discussion at the next COTW meeting on Jan. 19. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. and takes place in the Administration Building on 65 Chapel St. in Garnerville. Click here for more information.
