NORTH ROCKLAND, N.Y. -- When Daily Voice asked veteran coach Chris Roff what he was hoping for from this winter's North Rockland High School boys basketball team, he didn't have any hesitation.

"We're hoping for a Final Four birth, or it's not a great season," said Roff, who enters his 29th year with the team.

Roff is counting on leadership on and off the field from three players who will enter their third season on the varsity – Mike Arias (All-Section), and Lucas Ancin and Levance Jackson, both All-League picks. Returnee Jesse Degraft also earned All-League honors for the Raiders last winter.

"We need to continue to work hard, and we've got to have some luck," Roff said. "We have to be willing to work to get better. ... We want to be good in February."

The Raiders, who went 12-7 and lost in the second round of playoffs to Suffern last winter, open the season Dec. 9 at Nyack.
