North Rockland Softball Team Setting Sights High

THIELLS, N.Y. -- Last year's North Rockland High softball team came oh-so-close to winning a sectional title - with their season coming to an end with a loss to Clarkstown South in the Class AA championship game.

Daily Voice talks to North Rockland softball coach Jackie DiNuzzo and team captains Kayla McDermott, Alicia Bertolino, Amanda Schweitzer and Daniella Chiorazzi about the new season.

But that experience left the Raiders, who finished at 20-4, hungry to get back and finish the job this spring.

North Rockland coach Jackie DiNuzzo believes she has the talent to go far this spring - starting with team captain and staff ace Kayla McDermott on the mound.

North Rockland also has a stellar defense - flashing no less than four D1 prospects around the infield - and the bats to get to their destination.

The team has opened the season with a six-game win streak, after beating New Rochelle Friday.
