NORTH ROCKLAND, N.Y. - The North Rockland High School winter track team had a season to remember last winter, winning the league, the Rockland County Meet, and the Section 1 Class A title.
Veteran coach Gene Dall, entering his 46th season with the team, expects to have another strong winter.
"We have a great group coming back," Dall said. "We have around 30 boys shot putting, which is a nice group." That includes junior Hervens Mulatre, the team's top returning shot putter, and Michael Zecchin.
The Raiders also boast the top returning sprinter in the section, in senior Wyatt Brooks, the section champ in the 100 and 200 last spring.
Rob Schepis, another returning senior, is a top pole vaulter, and will also run relays for North Rockland. Junior Lamar Seward is a top returning high jumper and long jumper, and also a standout sprinter. Distance standouts include TJ Morales and Jared Peters, both seniors.
"We should be very good again," said Dall. "If we continue to work hard, we should do very well again this year."
North Rockland opens the season December 13 at the kickoff meet at the Armory in Manhattan.
