Road Reopens After Dwui Driver Slams Into Pole In Rockland, Police Say

Mile Road in the Village of Montebello has reopened to traffic following an accident Thursday that damaged a utility pole causing the roadway to be shut down for several hours. 

A 21-year-old New Jersey man lost control of his car on Mile Road and slammed into a power pole.

The accident occurred after a 21-year-old man from New Jersey, who was under the influence of drugs, slammed into the utility pole, causing extensive damage, Ramapo police said. Neither the man's name nor place of residence were released.

The driver was arrested, and the roadway was closed to allow crews from Orange and Rockland Utilities to repair the pole.
