Earlier report

Fast-moving, massive Tropical Storm turned Hurrican Nate is now expected to impact the Hudson Valley earlier than originally predicted, according to the latest forecast projection released Saturday.

Nate is moving rapidly toward the north-northwest near at 25 miles per hour, with its center expected to approach the mouth of the Mississippi late Saturday afternoon and make landfall along the central U.S. Gulf Coast Saturday night as a Category 2 hurricane.

Nate is then expected to return to Tropical Storm status after making landfall and then become a Tropical Depression.

Rains from Nate are now projected to hit the Hudson Valley on Monday with the system making an early exit Tuesday -- a day earlier for its arrival than was predicted on Friday.

The rainfall is expected to arrive early in the day on Columbus Day, and become heavy at times with thunderstorms possible and a total of up to 2 inches of rainfall possible. Monday's high temperature will be in the low-70s.

There will be showers around on Tuesday under mostly cloudy skies with the high temperature climbing to the upper-70s.

It will become partly sunny on Wednesday with a high around 70.
