The longtime children's book writer, who lives in East Fishkill, had her first book, “I Wanna Iguana” published in 2004.

Others "I Wanna" include "I Wanna New Room," and "I Wanna Go Home." Kaufman Orloff said although they've been around awhile, they are still in print and often used in elementary schools for persuasive writing and letter writing.

In all, the Rockland native -- she grew up in Orangeburg -- has written 10 books.

Her newest is“Goodnight, Little Bot,” illustrated by Kim Smith, which came out in early October. The story is about an energetic little robot who is not quite ready to go to sleep.

And in Spring 2019, her publishing house (Sterling) will print “Some Days: A Flurry of Feelings." Most of her books cater to kids ages four to eight.

The mom of two grown children continues to be busy on other stories -- she's always been someone who loves to read/write. She's also big on attending local events and interacting with kids as much as possible.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, she'll be at a breast cancer "Miles of Hope" benefit at the Poughkeepsie Senior Center (14 Abe’s Way) in Poughkeepsie signing books from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
