The fire has consumed more than 1,300 acres, officials said.

Tuesday's rain of a little less than 2 inches helped damper the flames and sped up containment efforts at both the Breakneck and Sebago fires.

Containment does not mean the fire is out; there are still hot spots of burning moss, fallen trees and stumps that will have to be monitored for days, said Dan Keefe, spokesman with the State Department of Parks.

Route 106 has re-opened, but officials said to expect lingering smoke as the fire continues to burn or smolder.
