MONROE, N.Y. – John W. “Jack” Bliss of Monroe, formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., died Monday, March 21. He was 89.
Born in Paterson, N.J., to the late Warren and Grace Bliss, he was an Army veteran of World War II. Before retiring, he was the owner of Apollo Printing in Hackensack.
He was the husband of Rosemary (Hanna) Bliss and the late Marie (Manfredi) Bliss; father of Kevin Bliss of Hasbrouck Heights, Jeffrey Bliss and his wife, Monique, of Park Ridge and the late Lisa Bliss Hoehl and her husband, William Hoehl; stepfather of Conrad Schnerk and his wife, Donna, of Bloomington, Minn., Mary Lincoln and her husband, Chris, of Shorewood, Minn.; John Schnerk and his wife, Ofelia, of Haverstraw; and Thomas Schnerk and his wife, Paola, of Lake Ronkonkoma; grandfather of Madeleine Bliss, Marie-Elise Bliss, Nicolette Bliss, John Bliss-Hoehl, Danielle Victoria Bliss, Jeffrey John Bliss, Daniel Schnerk, Eric Schnerk, Christina Lincoln-Fontaine and her husband, David, Johnathan Lincoln and Thomas Lincoln; and great-grandfather of Atlas Lincoln and Kora Fontaine.
Visitation will take place Saturday, March 26, from 2-6 p.m. at the Costa Memorial Home, 170 Central Ave., Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral will take place Monday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at Costa Memorial Home. A funeral liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, Hasbrouck Heights. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
