Cordisco was the head coach of his alma mater, Haverstraw High School, and North Rockland High School from 1956 through 1979 and also served as North Rockland's athletic director for many years.
Cordisco compiled a 123-50-8 during his football-coaching tenure. The team had a 27-game win streak from 1970 to 1972. North Rockland High School's stadium bears his name.
Inducted into the Rockland County Hall of Fame in 1984, he was chosen Rockland coach of the year in football six times and the New York Daily News coach of the year six times.
He also was longtime golf coach at North Rockland.
Cordisco was also a World War II Coast Guard veteran.
A member of Haverstraw High’s first football team in 1933, he won four varsity letters in football letters and was a three-time all-county basketball standout. He also earned letters in baseball and track.
He attended Syracuse University on a full scholarship and earned three varsity football awards there.
Cordisco was predeceased by his wife, Rosie, in 2007.
A memorial service will be held Saturday in Rhode Island, with a memorial service planned next week at St. Peter’s Church in Haverstraw at a day to be determined next week, according to lohud.com.
