At 10:19 a.m. on Saturday, Stony Point police were called to Route 210 and Cedar Flats Road on a report of a male under water.
Arriving officers found Nicholas Cohen, 25, of 4 East Main St., Stony Point, deceased in the brook. An investigation is continuing but the death does not appear to be suspicious, police said on Monday.
The deceased was removed from the water by the Wayne Hose Fire Department.
The death came within hours of an unrelated suicide in Stony Point, according to police.
A final determination on cause of death is pending an examination by the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s office.
The Stony Point Police Department was assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI and Rockland Paramedics.
