Casarella, one of Section 1's veteran coaches and administrators, is in his 49th year at North Rockland. He's been Director of Athletics at the school since 1983.

As longtime football coach at the school, his 255 career wins rank first in Rockland County, and the football field at the school was named after him in 2014, and now bears the moniker 'Casarella Field at Cordisco Stadium.'

Casarella graduated from Harrison High School, where he played football, basketball, baseball and ran track. He spent the next four years at Ithaca College, where he played four years of football and lacrosse.

Once out of school, he spent a brief stint at Mamaroneck High, before coming to North Rockland in 1967.
